I. The Back to the Classics Challenge

This is hosted by Sarah at Sarah Reads Too Much. The goal is to read 9 classics in 9 categories. She selected some interesting categories. The categories and my selections are:

  • Any 19th Century Classic Flaubert-Bouvard et Péceuchet
  • Any 20th Century Classic Jack Kerouac-Big Sur
  • Reread a classic of your choice Celine-Journey to the End of the Night
  • A Classic Play Goldoni-Le Vedova Scaltra (1748)
  • Classic Mystery/Horror/Crime Fiction Jorge Luis Borges-Book of Sand
  • Classic Romance Heldris of Cornwall-Silence
  • Read a Classic that has been translated from its original language to your language – Montaigne-Essais and/or Tacitus-Histories (curious that my selections include only one book that was written in my native language)
  • Classic Award Winner – Albert Camus-The Fall (In 1957, a year after publishing The Fall, Camus was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature)
  • Read a Classic set in a Country that you (realistically speaking) will not visit during your lifetime – Xenophon-The Education of Cyrus (set in the Ancient Persian Empire)

  1. Welcome to the Challenge! I will especially look for your thoughts of Camus, as I just finished ‘The Stranger’

    Good Luck and Have Fun!
