A quick note on plastic resins

Relative safety of food and drink containers made from the following plastic resins:

Safest:

#2 HDPE High Density Polyethylene

Safe:
#4 LDPE Low Density Polyethylene
#5 PP Polypropylene

Questionable:
#1 PETE Polyethylene Terephthalate The debate revolves around questions about their re-use which appears from scientific literature to be safe.
# 7 Other or Mixed plastics may contain some safe plastics but are generally made up of non-safe plastics including most Polycarbonate plastics which frequently contain BPA Bisphenol A, a known carcinogen.

Not Safe:
#3 V Vinyl, PVC Polyvinyl Chloride
#6 PS Polystyrene
