Xenophon’s Account of Leuctra

Tue Jul 14 11:37:47 2009
Xenophon’s prose is so clear, straight-forward and unadorned that I tend to regard his accounts as fairly accurate and unbiased. But his account of the Battle of Leuctra in the Hellenica lacks so many important details that it was almost misleading.

I am not very familiar with the Hellenica or Xenophon’s place in the politics of that era. It would be interesting to see if I could find some reason or motivation for his peculiar account but have not had the time to fully follow up on this idea. Any one know anything or have any thoughts on this?
