Logograms, pictograms and alphabets

An alphabetic system is easier to learn. There are fewer symbols needed to represent a vast number of words and concepts. That means it takes less time to learn and more people can afford to learn it. As in the case of the telephone, fax or email—the more people use it, the more useful it becomes.

But that does not mean that the use of pictographic writing entirely dies out. Even in R alphabetic system, the # of pictograms & logograms that U can C is > what 1 might expect @ 1st glance. They still = a substantial % of R communication. : )
