The Palin Effect

Palin has done a good job of moving the religious far right into McCain’s camp. But from the numbers it looks like he merely picks up more popular votes, mostly in states where he already has the lead. The great thing about Palin is that she makes the red states more red, the blue states more blue, and has little effect on battleground states and independent voters. I love seeing McCain’s convention bounce going to all the wrong states for winning the election. Hopefully as things settle it will leave Obama secure in the Electoral College. But we still have two more months of Swift-boating to go…

“Sen. John McCain has inched ahead of Sen. Barack Obama in national polls, but the Democratic candidate holds a steady lead in the most recent Electoral College estimates.”

“Yesterday, we saw a lot of places where the McCain bounce wasn’t; today we see some places where it is. The theme here is simply traditionally red states coming home to John McCain in a big way, likely cordoning off certain corners of the electoral map to Barack Obama.”
