If the message is important, it does not need to be expressed in an excessively partisan manner. If you have something serious that you want to communicate you need to share vocabulary, you need to listen, and you need your audience to listen. Why alienate half your audience with senseless ranting? If you only argue with people you already agree with you won’t change anything and you probably won’t learn anything. You need to reach out to those who don’t agree with you. I don’t think it’s that hard to get beyond that. It is just as important for a true conservative to want an intelligent and educated public as it is for a liberal. They may have different reasons and justifications but the goal is non-partisan. Only totalitarian demagogues need to keep people stupid.
