Not Another Vietnam

I keep hearing that there is nothing we can learn from Vietnam or Korea that is relevant to Iraq. I wonder what that means. I know we are trying to correct for too strong an analogy, but I fear we are over-correcting. Our military knowledge is cumulative. Even with differences there must be many things that can be learned from these earlier conflicts that can and should be applied to today. Doesn’t that make them at least somewhat analogous?
