Bad writers for good‏

Here’s an interesting development. Thomas L. Friedman has written another book, Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution—and How It Can Renew America.

What is interesting is not so much what the book will say—it will be another 500 pages of rambling self-congratulatory nonsense for the global corporatocracy to read in airports—but that it pushes a (supposedly) green agenda. Of course, he will get the answer wrong and insist that the solution is some technological miracle that allows us to continue to support our Grand Guignol of waste by shipping watery corn syrup to the other end of the globe. But at least it is not another book on Christianity, Commerce and Civilization and it might raise the issue for the head-in-the-sand crowd. Small steps.
